Projects
A project groups issues that work toward one larger outcome, such as “Billing v2” or “Website relaunch”. It gives you a list, a board and a progress count for that work alone.
A project belongs to one team
Section titled “A project belongs to one team”Every project belongs to exactly one team, and only issues of that team can be in it. An issue has at most one project.
This has two consequences:
- The project picker (Shift P, Project …) shows the projects of the issue’s team. If you select issues from several teams, it asks you to select issues of a single team.
- When you move an issue to another team, it loses its project. XLR8 tells you before it moves.
Project states
Section titled “Project states”| State | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Planned | Not started yet |
| Active | Being worked on (the default for new projects) |
| Paused | On hold |
| Done | Finished |
| Canceled | Dropped |
The state is for your overview. It does not change the issues in the project. The project picker shows the state next to every project that is not active.
Create and manage projects
Section titled “Create and manage projects”Projects are managed under Settings → Projects, grouped by team:
- Click + Project in a team’s group to create one.
- Click a project’s name to rename it.
- Change its Status with the drop-down.
A project cannot change its team after it is created.
The projects overview and the project page
Section titled “The projects overview and the project page”Click Projects under the current team in the sidebar to see the team’s projects. Each one shows its state, how many issues are open and done, and a progress bar. If the team has a knowledge area, the overview also shows how many pages belong to each project and links to them.
Click a project to open its page: a list of all its issues, grouped by status. It works like any other list: filters, display options, and CtrlCommand B to switch to the board. New issues you create there with C go into the project.
